#8 Time, Space and all that...

Hey again, im back with another not particularly interesting blog, not really controvertial, but i just want to type it to get it straight in my head.

Time - the fourth dimension? the fastest thing in the universe? a very very abstract noun? Well frankly i don't think time should be any of these things, except the noun one.
Time as a dimension? really? i couldn't really ever get my head around that, but it simplifies it a bit, but i think time can't be classed as a dimension because we can't really properly go back along the line. We are ALWAYS in the present, kinda annoying. really... ok well i can't prove it isn't a dimension, but let me try, first whats a dimension? *goes to dictionary.com

Physics. A physical property, such as mass, length, time, or a combination thereof, regarded as a fundamental measure or as one of a set of fundamental measures of a physical quantity: Velocity has the dimensions of length divided by time.

Ok, right well there's a simple flaw here, time isn't a property, its not physical so it's not a dimension.
QED.

Time - the fastest thing in the Universe. Well, I for one would like to know this, now, i do know the ins and outs of Einsteins theory of relativity thanks to Dr.Avshu and my special physics books. But i wish Einstein would come back and explain to me why nothing can go as fast as light? i mean its only what, 400,000,000km a second. To be honest thats not very fast for the fastest thing ever... I would say there is no conclusive evidence that NOTHING EVER will EVER go as fast or faster than light. I mean, why couldn't you build an engine to go that fast eventually?

Yes, thanks for reading if you did, now comment :D

No, i can't guess.
Time is only a dimension, so far as any measurement is a dimension, eg. metres. It is a property, I am 15 years old, just as I'm five foot whatever I am and wiegh some really light wieght. Now, leave the wuestoining to me.

It's like questioning, just misspelt.
What the hell are YOU talking about? Time isn't "jsut [sic] a concept", it's a real thing. Age is time, 15 years is an amount of time.
Time exists, it passes every day, get your facts straight before you come trying to question me.

oh dear chris... you really need to get yours straight.
This is why Time = Concept
Time = Made up by man as a name for "Why stuff happens and why everything isn't just the same coz theres this passing of what we want to call time"
Made up by man = Concept

proved.

therefore - if it's jsut a CONCEPT then it may not be real... what we call time is just like.. this stuff.

Age is a measurment of this stuff that has gone by

Ummm, all measurements were made up by man.
We made up distances, we made up weights, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. And anyway, Time isn't a concept, It actually exists, that's why we get days and nights and everytyhing is different. Things change because of something, so we thought of a name and some measurements for it.
Stop trying to make yourself sound clever when you actually sound like an arrogant fool.

To elaborate:
Love, which clearly is something you believe in, doesn't physically exist. There isn't a physical object called "love". Man made it up to explain things, and yet it still exists. Man made up lot's of things (eg. the chair I'm sitting on), that doesn't make them any less real.
In fact, you've admitted it by saying it's just "this stuff". Well, we've given "this stuff" a name and some definitions.

heh... ur the one being arrogant... and frankly plain assertive... just coz we think it exists and give a name to it doesn't mean it err exists?

hmmm, let's see. We think chairs exist, we gave them a name, and you're not disputing that, in fact, you're not actually disputting anything I said in that last comment, this would suggest that you are seeing sense and admitting defeat. Unless, of course, you'd care to argue that love doesn't exist.
